The Premier League has already offered up plenty of thrills and spills this season, with one result arguably standing out more than any other.
While Norwich City's victory against Manchester City will live long in the memory, the latter's reaction to that result was truly incredible by any standard. City's 8-0 demolition of Watford was undoubtedly a clear reminder of the side's formidable attacking prowess, as the score arguably could have been even greater. On the flipside though, it was also a reminder of the huge task that Watford's coach Quique Flores is facing this year.

Not looking good
At the time of writing, Watford have just two points from six games and sit firmly rooted to the bottom of the table. Their position is a long way from their exploits last season, when they finished comfortably in 11th and also reached the FA Cup final – although that was another day ruined by City.
To put it plainly, their prospects for this season are not looking good, and online betting provider Bet777.be is offering odds of 7/4 on the team being relegated. In addition, they are listed at 6/1 to still be in 20th by the time the season ends.
Fortunately, time is of course on their side when it comes to turning their current poor form around, with one particularly crucial moment likely to be Christmas. The festive period is always a busy time for football and this year Watford have several crucial games to look out for.
Vital games ahead
While December offers up a tough trip to Anfield and a home game with Manchester United, it does also include matches against Crystal Palace, Sheffield United and Aston Villa.
A couple of those sides may be moderately pleased with the start they have made to the season, but it is still a fair bet that they will be among a host of clubs potentially battling in the bottom half of the table by the time Christmas comes around. It is also likely that these may be games that Watford will be targeting as they search for some much-needed points.
In addition, they will be welcoming in the New Year with another crucial home match on January 1 with Wolves – another side many may be surprised to see winless and in the bottom three at this point of the season. Following that, a trip to Bournemouth is on January 11 and that may be another game from which Watford are hopeful of getting a result.
Plenty to play for
So while they may have been on the end of one of the most eye-catching results in the Premier League in recent years, all is not yet lost for Watford as they look to get out of their position at the bottom of the table.
There are plenty of points still to play for and the festive period could, in particular, be a key time for them as they look to climb up the league.
