Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists that the club are "trying to do their best" in the transfer market.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that the club are "trying to do their best" to bring in more players this summer.

The Blues have made just four additions so far this summer - albeit for a combined £127.5m - and have sold key player Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United in recent weeks.

Conte has expressed his disappointment at the Premier League champions' performance in the transfer market ahead of the new season, but in his press conference today he claimed that he is "very happy" with the current situation.

"I'm very happy because these players are working very well and so hard," he told reporters.

"We are trying to improve. It's simple. I am the coach of this team and my aim is to improve my players and my team.

"What happens in the transfer market, the club is trying to do their best. My only task is to be focused on the pitch. This must be my focus."

The Blues are thought to be working on deals for Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater and Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo.
