Diego Costa has reportedly been fined by Chelsea for not returning to pre-season training last month.

Costa, 28, is not part of Antonio Conte's plans at Stamford Bridge this season, with the striker being informed in the summer that he would have to find a new club in this transfer window.

From Brazil, the striker gave an exclusive interview to the Daily Mail where he criticised Conte for lacking "charisma", and suggested that he had no plans to return to the Premier League champions.

According to Sky Sports News, Costa is expected to be fined two weeks wages - £300,000 - by Chelsea, who opened their Premier League title defence with a 3-2 home defeat to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Costa has expressed his desire to return to Atletico Madrid this summer, but the Spanish outfit are currently under a transfer embargo.
