New Celtic midfielder Kundai Benyu claims that it was not a difficult decision to join the Scottish giants this summer due to the size of the club.

New Celtic midfielder Kundai Benyu has claimed that it was not a difficult decision to join the Scottish giants this summer.

The 19-year-old penned a four-year contract with the Hoops on Thursday after leaving Ipswich Town.

Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Aston Villa have all previously been linked with a move for the teenager, but Benyu has claimed that "Celtic are bigger than all of those clubs".

"In my opinion, Celtic are bigger than all of those clubs who were interested in me," Benyu told Celtic TV. "I know I'm joining one of the biggest clubs in the world, with 60,000 fans at every home game, which is crazy.

"The gaffer's put faith in me and he trusts that he sees me in his team and that I can improve as a player. My ambition is to get into the first-team squad by the start of the season."

Benyu, who rejected a new contract at Ipswich to make the move to the Scottish Premiership, scored five goals in 23 appearances while on loan at National League outfit Aldershot Town during the 2016-17 campaign.
