Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says that his side put in a "big performance" as they beat Rosenborg to move through to the final Champions League qualifying round.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed his players after they kept their "nerve" to progress past Rosenborg in the Champions League third qualifying round.

Celtic were at risk of heading out of the competition after a goalless draw in Glasgow, but a second-half strike from James Forrest proved decisive in the return fixture in Norway.

It leaves the Scottish Premiership champions just one tie away from the group stages, and Rodgers is taking confidence from how they maintained their composure on their travels.

The 44-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I was going into these games last year hoping we get through. It's a different mentality now. That comes from the belief from how they've worked and how they play.

"It was a big performance. Everybody was talking about the pressure of the game, to play that way was sensational. I'm delighted the way the players kept their nerve."

Celtic will face either Qarabag FK, Hapoel Beer-Sheva, Slavia Prague, Astana or Rijeka in the playoff round.
