Burnley boss Sean Dyche "not concerned" about lack of signings

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is unconcerned by his side's lack of transfer activity, but suggests that a couple of new players could still be signed in the next week.

Sean Dyche has played down concerns regarding Burnley's lack of incoming activity during the summer transfer window by again stressing that he is working on a tight budget.

The Clarets have yet to bring in a single new player since the end of last season, despite potentially having Europa League football to factor in for 2018-19.

Burnley have been linked with the likes of Alfie Mawson, Fraser Forster, Peter Crouch and Josh Windass over the past week, and with eight days of the window left to go Dyche is hopeful of bringing in one or two new faces.

"I'm not concerned. I'm just familiar with what's going on, it's a never-ending story. It's broken record time, we're a wealthy club of sorts, but the club continues to look after not just year one," he told reporters ahead of Thursday's European clash with Aberdeen.

"That makes it tough, the books have to balance, and the finance has to be there to do deals, and it does limit the pool you're looking in. And the numbers are just crazy, for any player. You can ring for a Championship player, League One, and the numbers are enormous.

"It's certainly a seller's market. We're into a few situations, we had one come and go that we thought was going to go and it wasn't, we've got a couple pending and think we have a chance on, but there's no guarantees. We don't just add and add and keep going until we hit a number, we try to be fair with our market."

Dyche also confirmed that Burnley have asked UEFA for special dispensation to bring a goalkeeper in ahead of their Europa League second-round qualifier against Aberdeen, with Nick Pope out injured and Tom Heaton a major doubt for the second leg.
