Eddie Howe: 'Victory won't guarantee survival'

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe insists that three points against Swansea City on Saturday afternoon will not ensure that the club retain their Premier League status.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that he is wary of a late run from one of the sides below his team in the Premier League table.

The Cherries have established an 11-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone, and three points against Swansea City on Saturday would take the South-Coast outfit to 38 points with eight games left.

However, Howe has insisted that regardless of the result at the Vitality Stadium, his team will still have more work to do to guarantee their survival in the top flight.

The 38-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Saturday won't guarantee anything but it can help, as all games can, if we can take maximum points from them.

"No one can predict what the final points tally will be. There is still some way to go in the season, teams can go on good runs at this time of year, so we just have to focus on this game and try to win."

Last weekend, Bournemouth recorded a 3-1 win away at Newcastle United, while Swansea improved their own chances of remaining in the Premier League with a 1-0 triumph over Norwich City.
