Barcelona striker Luis Suarez's record vs. Real Madrid

Sports Mole looks at how Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has performed against Real Madrid ahead of Wednesday night's El Clasico.

Luis Suarez will lead the Barcelona line on Wednesday night as the Spanish champions head to Real Madrid for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final.

The last-four clash is delicately poised following a 1-1 draw in the first leg earlier this month and it is shaping up to be a very interesting battle for a spot in the final of this season's cup competition.

Suarez was on the scoresheet in Barca's 4-2 win over Sevilla at the weekend, but it would be fair to say that there have been questions raised over the Uruguay international's form in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, Barca are said to be concerned about the forward's ongoing knee problem, which forced him to miss one league match and a couple of Champions League fixtures earlier this season.

Ahead of the midweek clash at the Bernabeu, Sports Mole has taken a look at how Suarez has performed against Madrid during his career.

Suarez has faced Madrid on 13 previous occasions. One of those appearances came for Ajax as he captained the Dutch giants to a 4-0 defeat at the Bernabeu in the 2010-11 Champions League.

The other 12 have come for Barca and he has an overall record of five wins, three draws and five defeats.

Suarez's record of nine goals and four assists in 13 appearances against Los Blancos is extremely impressive, although the bulk of those appearances - nine - and indeed goals - five - have come in La Liga.

The first leg of this semi-final proved to be his first Copa del Rey appearance against Madrid, playing the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Camp Nou.

Suarez netted a hat-trick against Madrid in Barca's 5-1 league victory earlier this season, though, and also registered in both league Clasicos during the 2017-18 campaign.
