Arsenal are reportedly struggling to appoint an elite new permanent boss following the dismissal of Unai Emery due to a limited budget.

Arsenal have reportedly encountered difficulty over appointing an elite new permanent boss following the dismissal of Unai Emery due to a limited budget.

The club has commenced its search for their next manager following the decision last Friday to sack Emery following a winless run of seven games.

Former midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has been appointed as interim coach and will, according to reports, be considered for the full-time role.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are most likely to appoint either Ljungberg or Mikel Arteta due to significant budgetary restrictions.

Brendan Rodgers has emerged as a key target, but there are serious doubts over the North London club's capacity to pay the £14m compensation fee that will be demanded by Leicester City.

Reports have suggested that Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti, Nuno Espirito Santo and even former Tottenham Hotspur Mauricio Pochettino are candidates for the position.
