Aaron Ramsey believes that Arsenal played with "real purpose" in their victory over West Bromwich Albion, which pulls them within 10 points of league leaders Leicester City.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has admitted that his side's strong performance against West Bromwich Albion was much needed, but concedes that it may be too late to mount any real title charge.

The Gunners brushed aside their opponents with a straightforward 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening, courtesy of two goals from Alexis Sanchez.

Victory for Arsenal takes them back within 10 points of leaders Leicester, although with time now very much against them Ramsey offered an honest assessment of the North London outfit's recent disappointing run.

"We played with a lot of belief and intensity tonight and made a lot of chances," he told Sky Sports News. "We haven't been at that standard of late and we needed that level of performance for us and our fans.

"We needed that. We played with a real purpose. We have been frustrated with the way we have been playing but that is what we are capable of. It may be too little too late but we keep going."

Arsenal face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in their next outing, ahead of Leicester's home match with Swansea City later the same day.
