Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he is against the potential rescheduling of the club's away fixture with Arsenal, which could take place on Christmas Eve.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he does not want the club's Premier League fixture away to Arsenal to be rescheduled for Christmas Eve.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Sky Sports was keen to push the game - currently scheduled for December 23 - back 24 hours for its 'Super Sunday' programme, with the desire likely to be for kickoff to be at 4pm.

Should the alteration be made, Liverpool would potentially shoulder increased demands over the Christmas period, while supporters would face having to make the 210-mile journey back to Merseyside at 6pm ahead of Christmas Day.

Klopp has hinted that he believes that the amendment may be inevitable, but asked the broadcaster to consider all its options before making a final decision.

The 50-year-old told reporters: "If the supporters want to see a game at Christmas Eve then the television broadcaster will find a way.

"What I have learned is that if there is something not too cool involving fixtures, Liverpool are involved. The broadcaster has to consider the wonderful thing they sell depends on the players. On the quality, freshness of the players."

"It would be four games in nine days for us. If we have to play Dec 24, Sky has to make a decision whether they really want to do this. If Sky really want to do this, we are the last one who may have something to say about the decision.

"I really cannot imagine people want to watch football on that night."

The last top-flight encounter to be staged on Christmas Eve was in 1995, when Leeds United hosted Manchester United with a midday kickoff.
