Arsene Wenger admits that the Europa League is a big target for Arsenal, with chances of Champions League qualification success in the Premier League "very slim".

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that one of Arsenal's "big targets" this season is the Europa League, with chances of Champions League qualification success in the Premier League "very slim".

The Gunners are 13 points adrift of the top four, but have one foot in the semi-finals of the Europa League thanks to a 4-1 lead over CSKA Moscow in the quarter-finals.

Wenger had previously refused to put the Europa League above the domestic league but, with just six games left of the top-flight season, he has now dropped a big hint as to what he is aiming for this term.

"The Europa League is important for us," Wenger told Sky Sports News ahead of Arsenal's Europa League quarter-final second leg in Moscow.

"Everybody knows that and we are at [the] stage where of course we focus on it because in the Premier League we have a very, very, very slim chance to get further up.

"The Europa League is one of the big targets of the season."

Arsenal go into Thursday night's game on the back of six successive wins in all competitions, but CSKA have lost just two of their last 11 home matches.
