Supernatural prequel The Winchesters ordered to pilot
The CW gives the go-ahead to a pilot episode of Jensen Ackles's Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters.

The CW has committed to a pilot episode of a proposed new Supernatural prequel called The Winchesters.

Starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, Supernatural ran for an impressive 15 seasons on the network and followed two brothers who hunted demons, ghosts and other malevolent beings.

Details of the prequel, which would tell the backstory of the boys' parents, first emerged last summer as the brainchild of Ackles and his wife Danneel.

Ackles will serve as narrator for the series - and as it stands, there are no plans for Padalecki's involvement either on screen or off.

Once the pilot is produced, The CW will decide whether to order it to full series for a potential debut in the 2022-23 television season.
