David Walliams has revealed that he has started working on a new character-based TV project with Matt Lucas.
The pair previously collaborated on the wildly successful Little Britain, followed by an airport-based comedy Come Fly With Me, but then went their separate ways with solo projects.
Last year they reconnected, bringing back Little Britain for a one-off sketch during the coronavirus lockdown, and now Walliams has admitted that they are exploring an idea for a new show.
"Me and Matt are meeting up and talking about projects," he told The Jonathan Ross Show. "We just have an idea of something we want to do.
"The idea – where we play lots of different characters, which is, you know, something people expect from us – and so we're just going to start writing it, and if we feel it's good and we want to share it with people, we'll ask if anyone wants to put it on TV."
Last year Little Britain came under fire in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement for its historical use of blackface, prompting the BBC and Netflix to pull the show from their streaming services.
