Charlie Brooker reportedly starts work on a sixth season of Black Mirror after three years.

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker has reportedly started working on a sixth season of the show for Netflix.

The dystopian drama, which features a different storyline and cast every episode, has been on ice since the release of season five in June 2019 due to a rights issue.

According to Variety, that issue has now been resolved and Brooker has been writing scripts for season six, which is expected to run to more episodes than season five's three episodes.

The publication quotes a show source as describing the new season as "even more cinematic in scope, with each instalment being treated as an individual film".

A release date has not yet been set by Netflix, although casting is now thought to be underway, suggesting that filming may be imminent.
