King Charles's first Christmas Day address brings in more than 11 million viewers, according to early ratings figures.

The first Christmas address by King Charles was watched by more than 11 million viewers on Christmas Day, according to overnight ratings figures.

The speech was broadcast as usual between 3pm and 3.10pm and saw the new monarch reference the cost-of-living crisis, food banks and the service of his late mother The Queen.

A combined total of 11.04m people saw the broadcast live or via same-day catchup, with the majority of viewers watching on BBC One (8.12m), ITV1 (1.58m) and BBC Two (929k).

The address was also simulcast on ITV3 (178k), Sky News (68k), the BBC News channel (62k), Sky Showcase (58k) and GB News (47k).

The figure is up from the 9m who watched The Queen's broadcast in 2021 and is the most-watched Christmas address since 1998, when 11.6m tuned in.
