England's remarkable victory over Germany pulls in a peak of more than 20 million viewers for BBC One.

England's first competitive victory over Germany since 1966 broke through the 20-million TV ratings barrier last night.

According to figures published by BBC Sport, the Three Lions' 2-0 win at Wembley topped out with 20.6 million viewers and an 80.1% audience share in the closing stages.

The corporation reported that an additional 6.5 million live streams were recorded via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website during the Euro 2020 round-of-16 game, which kicked off at 5pm.

Overall, coverage of the game averaged 13m (69%) between 4pm and 7.35pm for BBC One.

TV ratings figures do not include viewers watching in pubs, bars, clubs and other non-household settings.
