Strictly Come Dancing is to welcome EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis as the show's first ever deaf contestant.

Rose Ayling-Ellis has been confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing lineup and will be the show's first ever deaf contestant.

The actress is best known for playing Frankie Lewis, daughter of Mick (Danny Dyer), on EastEnders and joins a long line of stars from the soap to take part in Strictly.

"To be the first deaf contestant on Strictly Come Dancing is sooooo exciting.. and a little bit scary," she said.

"It is the hardest secret I have ever had to keep so it feels amazing to finally have this out in the open!

"I hope I will do the deaf community proud and break down more barriers. But I am also very excited to learn an incredible new skill and even better I get to learn whilst wearing beautiful dresses made especially for me!"

With 12 of the 15 celebrities now revealed, the lineup for Strictly is almost complete ahead of the show starting next month.

Other names confirmed include Dan Walker, Nina Wadia, Tom Fletcher, AJ Odudu and Greg Wise.
