Blue singer Lee Ryan tells a court that the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic mean that he is unable to pay a speeding fee.

Blue singer Lee Ryan has told a court that he is unable to pay a speeding fee of £1,501 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 38-year-old had been accused of driving his car at 70mph in a 60mph zone last year, although those charges were dropped after he revealed that his girlfriend had been given use of his car at the time.

Ryan was then found guilty of not providing sufficient documentation to back up his claim - something he denies - and was given a total fine of £1,501 and a 12-month driving ban.

Appearing virtually in front of a court from his new home in Spain, Ryan explained that he was unable to afford to pay the fee because he has been put out of work.

"I'm not working. I mean, they've stopped the gigs. I don't have any gigs," he said.

"I've not got anything. I haven't got anything."

The court gave Ryan 12 months to pay off the fee and warned that he will face potential prison time if he is unable to do so.
