Have I Got News For You could reportedly use a two-studio approach when it returns for its 60th series in October.

Have I Got News For You could reportedly use an innovative new two-studio format for its next series.

The most recent series of the long-running satirical news quiz was filmed over Zoom due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the host and panellists dialling into the show from their respective homes.

With new healthy and safety guidelines in place, the show will be able to return to the studio for its next series - albeit without a live audience in the same room.

According to Broadcast, producers are hoping to have a socially-distanced audience watch proceedings live from the next studio along, with their reaction being captured and funnelled into the main studio in real time.

"We will end up having a good, full-throated audience response to their jokes," Jimmy Mulville, MD of production company Hat Trick told the magazine.

"Enforced changes make you think creatively, and this could be a good outcome."

The landmark 60th series of HIGNFY is due to begin on BBC One in October.
