Bones and All director Luca Guadagnino praises star Timothee Chalamet for being "very curious, very open".

Bones and All director Luca Guadagnino has praised star Timothee Chalamet for the natural 'curiosity' he brings to his role.

The movie, which also stars Taylor Russell and Mark Rylance, is set in the 1980s cannibal community and stars Chalamet as Lee, a young bisexual cannibal who starts a relationship with teen cannibal Maren (Russell).

Speaking ahead of the film's release, Guadagnino, who has previously collaborated with Chalamet on the acclaimed Call Me By Your Name, credited his leading man for a 'compassionate' performance.

"Timothée has the rare capacity to think not just from the perspective of his own character but from the wider perspective of cinema," he told press.

"He is a very curious, very open, very human actor but also, he taps into something very contemporary, which was vital for this film.

"As Lee, he brings that sense of our times. He reveals the insecurity of Lee but also a compassion that is absolutely heartbreaking."
