Jendrik Sigwart to represent Germany at Eurovision 2021
Germany selects Jendrik Sigwart, a 26-year-old ukulele player, as its representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Jendrik Sigwart has been announced as the representative for Germany at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

The 26-year-old hails from Hamburg and is a singer-songwriter who specialises in playing the ukulele.

Sigwart was selected internally by German broadcaster NDR, who enlisted a 100-strong jury of experts to help make the call.

"I am really looking forward to performing for Germany at the Contest," he told the official Eurovision website.

"Okay - I just can't stay serious about this. Hey, everyone! I am really going to the Eurovision Song Contest! This is a dream come true. Amazing!"

As one of the 'big five' countries competing at Eurovision, Sigwart automatically earns a bye through to the grand final of the competition on May 22 in Rotterdam.

Sigwart's song will be revealed on February 25.
