NBC announces a deal for the US rights to the Eurovision Song Contest, starting with tonight's first semi-final.

NBC has announced that it will broadcast this year's and next year's Eurovision Song Contests via its Peacock streaming service in the US.

The last-minute deal covers both semi-finals - the first of which takes place tonight - and the final, all of which will be provided in full without advertisements on the free-tier version of the service.

Coverage begins at 3pm ET/12pm PT tonight (semi-final 1), Thursday (semi-final 2) and Saturday (final), with full replays of each show available shortly after the live broadcast ends.

Commentary details for the US stream have yet to be confirmed; the most likely option is for the semi-finals to proceed without a commentary, however the broadcaster could strike a deal to use the BBC audio feed for Saturday's final or bring in its own commentators.

News of NBC's deal for Eurovision comes just days after the network confirmed plans to air a US version, The American Song Contest, in 2022.
