Sam Robertson reportedly pens a new 12-month contract keeping him on Coronation Street as Adam Barlow.

Sam Robertson has reportedly signed a new one-year deal to stay on Coronation Street as Adam Barlow.

The actor returned to the role in 2016 after more than nine years away - and recently suggested that he could leave again, saying in an interview that he feared "familiarity breeds contempt".

According to The Sun, however, Robertson has now agreed to stay until at least 2023 amid a current storyline which has seen Adam's life torn apart by vengeful ex Lydia (Rebecca Ryan).

"Sam is a huge talent and bosses are thrilled he's signed a new contract," a source told the newspaper.

"He's got some explosive storylines coming up with Adam facing losing everything because of his deranged ex Lydia."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
