Premier Sports will adopt the branding of new owner Viaplay from November 1, it is revealed.

Premier Sports will be rebranded as Viaplay from November 1 following the broadcaster's acquisition by the Scandinavian streamer over the summer.

The streaming service will launch in the UK on that date with two packages on offer - a 'Film and Series' package, priced at £3.99 a month, and a 'Total' package also including sports for £14.99 a month.

The three linear TV channels will be rebranded from Premier Sports 1, Premier Sports 2 and Freesports to Viaplay Sports 1, Viaplay Sports 2 and Viaplay Xtra respectively.

Viaplay's sports offering will comprise most of UEFA's national team games, including the Nations League and select Euro and World Cup qualifiers, as well as La Liga, Coppa Italia, Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, Top 14 rugby, the NHL and more.

Programmes from the Viaplay films and series package will also be introduced into the linear TV schedules.

Viaplay CEO Anders Jensen said: "Viaplay will offer UK viewers a compelling combination of live sports, world-class drama and superior value for money.

"We are launching in this dynamic and exciting market with high ambitions and a long-term perspective, and acquiring Premier Sports will significantly accelerate our entry.

"Viaplay has so much to offer, and local sports fans as well as devotees of premium Nordic and international storytelling can now try our unique service for themselves, starting 1 November."

Premier Sports had around 222,000 subscribers as of the end of June.
