Premier Sports secures the UK and Ireland rights to La Liga until at least the end of the 2024-24 season.

Premier Sports has penned an extension to its broadcasting rights for La Liga in the UK and Ireland, it has been announced.

The news means that the subscription service will remain home of Spanish top-flight football until at least the end of the 2024-25 season.

As part of the deal, Premier will also continue to offer the LaLigaTV channel as part of its package alongside Premier Sports 1, Premier Sports 2 and BoxNation.

"We're pleased to extend our relationship with LaLiga until 2025," said Richard Sweeney, Premier's CEO.

"Since 2019, as Premier Sports and LaLiga have worked hand-in-hand to actively promote Spanish football, we've come to appreciate the deep-seated passion that makes LaLiga the most popular foreign league on these shores.

"With our recent addition of rights to the UEFA Nations League and Euro 2024 Qualifiers, we continue to position Premier Sports as a go-to destination for football fans across the UK and Ireland."

Melcior Soler, audiovisual director of La Liga, added: "These past three years have seen LaLiga reach British and Irish viewers via a unique distribution strategy forged in partnership with Premier Sports.

"We look forward to continuing to innovate in our offering to the UK and Ireland markets, allowing viewers everywhere to enjoy the best that Spanish football has to offer."

New streaming service Fite had been on course to poach the UK rights to La Liga but the deal is said to have collapsed due to a disagreement over the payment schedule between the two parties.
