The executive producer of Dateline London has said that he is looking for a new channel for the programme ahead of the upcoming changes to BBC News.
The BBC has confirmed that the BBC News channel and BBC World News will merge next year as part of significant cost-saving measures.
Dateline London, which sees three foreign correspondents exchange views on key UK and global issues, has aired on BBC News for the last 25 years but will be dropped from September as part of the changes.
Talking to Broadcast, exec producer and format owner Nick Guthrie revealed that the show has a total audience of 15 million viewers worldwide and outlined his determination for it to continue.
"Given the guestlist, the format would sit well on GB News, Sky News, Al Jazeera or MSNBC," he said.
"We have resisted using politicians, academics, and anybody other than practicing journalists and commentators. That's its uniqueness and what its audience likes.
"It's not a question of finding the highest bidder – but securing the right home."
Guthrie added that he is keen for the show to remain as a weekend programme and would also like for its runtime - currently 30 minutes - to be extended.
