Georgia Ward through, Lois Toulson out in Rio

Georgia Ward progresses through to the semi-final of the 10m platform at the Diving World Cup, while teammate Lois Toulson fails to make the cut.

A strong performance in the prelims has seen Georgia Ward progress through to the semi-final of the women's 10m platform at the Diving World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

With a sixth-placed finish overall, the 20-year-old has also earned Team GB's second quota place for the Olympics this summer.

Ward posted a total of 325.60 across her five dives, including a high score of 69.00 for her forward 3-1/2.

Young teammate Lois Toulson failed to make the cut, meanwhile, being eliminated in 22nd place with an overall score of 279.70.

Olympic quota places mean that Team GB will be able to field athletes in the competition, although they do not necessarily have to select the athlete that earned the quota place.
