IBF world welterweight champion Kell Brook targets beating Floyd Mayweather Jr's unbeaten record of 49-0.

Kell Brook is targeting surpassing Floyd Mayweather Jr's 49-0 unbeaten record.

The IBF world welterweight champion has beaten Jo Jo Dan and Frankie Gavin since wresting the title from Shawn Porter in 2014, and Brook, who is currently 35-0, wants to extend his record beyond Mayweather's.

"[Mayweather's] 49-0 record is incredible," BT Sport quotes the Sheffield fighter as saying.

"His record is incredible and he leaves a phenomenal legacy, but I believe that I can reach the pinnacle and go past."

Mayweather announced his retirement after beating Andre Berto last week, and Brook gets a chance to close in on the American's record when he meets Diego Chaves in his next fight on October 24.
