Eilidh Doyle relieved to make women's 400m hurdles final

Great Britain's Eilidh Doyle admits that she was relieved to have qualified for the women's 400m hurdles final as a fastest loser.

Great Britain's Eilidh Doyle has admitted that she was relieved to claim a place in the women's 400m hurdles final.

Doyle could only finish in third place in her semi-final but she gained the second fastest-loser position by just under half a second.

The 29-year-old told BBC Sport: "That was very close but when that 45.98 came up for third place, I thought 'phew'.

"It's not the way that I would have liked to have gone into the final but I am delighted to have got there and hopefully I can go in there and do something now."

The final will take place on Thursday evening.
