The Carolina Panthers put defensive end Charles Johnson on injured reserve designated to return after he suffered a serious hamstring injury.

The Carolina Panthers have placed defensive end Charles Johnson on injured reserve designated to return.

The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during his side's win over the New Orleans Saints when he attempted to rush Luke McCown at Bank of America Stadium.

The injury has been deemed serious enough for the Panthers to place Johnson on IR-return, which will rule him out of action for eight weeks in line for a return on November 26.

Johnson has recorded five tackles and one sack this season.
